PROJECT
Pacifica Place provides a 56-unit affordable housing project on 0.24 acres, where originally sat a car wash is transformed into a neighborhood beacon for hope and home. The site is prominently located at the corner of Pacific Avenue and Sepulveda Boulevard between a commercial structure and a residential structure with adjacent alley access. The Pacific Avenue edge provides a commercial retail space to the vehicular-active street while the Sepulveda Boulevard edge transitions to more residentially focused uses meeting room, main entry and a residential unit which responds in scale and use to the adjacent residential property. The six-story structure houses Studios and 1-bedroom units which are organized around a central circulation core. While the corner is given particular attention with a sculptural stair and pedestrian friendly seating with landscape at ground level. The screen-enclosed stair gives security and comfort while providing access to the trellis covered roof terrace. Where currently this corner site location is non-descript and utilitarian, Pacifica Place brings a “place” they can call home.
